Some interesting facts about Sarcoidosis:
  1. The lungs are usually the first site involved in sarcoidosis
  2. Eye disease occurs in about 20-30% of patients with sarcoidosis
  3. The skin is affected in about 20% of sarcoidosis patients
  4. In an occasional case 1-5% sarcoidosis can lead to neurological problems
  5. No single test can be relied on for a correct diagnosis
  6. A picture of the lungs, heart, as well as the surrounding tissues containing lymph nodes, where infection fighting white blood cells form, can give the first indication of sarcoidosis
  7. By performing a variety of tests call pulomary function tests, the doctor can find out how well the lungs are doing
  8. Blood analysis can evaluate the number and types of blood cells in the body and how well the cells are functioning. This measures the level of blood proteins and a blood substance call angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE)
